Have you ever sat in a crowded airport terminal, straining to hear an emergency announcement over the roar of engines? Or perhaps you’ve attended a keynote speech in a grand auditorium, only to find that from the back row, the speaker sounds like they are underwater?

For years, public spaces have struggled with a “sound gap.” Traditional PA systems are often muffled by acoustics, and while assistive listening technologies like Hearing Loops have been a godsend for many, there has never been a universal way for everyone to tap into crystal-clear, private audio in a public setting.

Until now.

As proud distributors of Ampetronic & Listen Technology, the world leaders in assistive listening, we are thrilled to introduce the next revolution in wireless audio: Auracast broadcast audio.

Why Traditional Audio Fails Us

Whether you have perfect hearing or use a hearing aid, public environments present three major challenges:

  1. Distance & Acoustics: Sound waves bounce off hard walls, creating echoes and “dead zones” in large rooms.
  2. Background Noise: Coughing, rustling papers, and air conditioning units compete with the audio you actually want to hear.
  3. One-to-One Limitations: Standard Bluetooth only lets you connect one phone to one pair of headphones. It wasn’t designed to “broadcast” to a whole room.

What is Auracast?

Auracast is a new standard for Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio. Unlike traditional Bluetooth, which creates a “handshake” between two devices, Auracast works like a radio station. One transmitter (like the Ampetronic Auri) can broadcast high-quality, low-latency audio to an unlimited number of receivers simultaneously.

Understanding the Engine: How Auracast Actually Works

To understand the magic of Auracast, it helps to look under the hood at the three-part ecosystem shown in the diagram above. Unlike traditional Bluetooth, which requires a complex “handshake” to pair two devices, Auracast operates as a unidirectional broadcast. It starts with the Auracast Transmitter (such as a PA system, TV, or laptop), which sends out two types of signals: Advertisements and Audio Streams. The “Advertisements” act like a digital billboard, broadcasting the name and configuration of the stream so your devices can find it.

The Auracast Assistant (your smartphone, smartwatch, or hearing aid remote) scans for these advertisements, allowing you to select the “channel” you want to join. Once selected, the Assistant gives the instructions to your Auracast Receiver (your earbuds or hearing aids), which then locks onto the high-quality, synchronized Audio Streams. This separation of “finding the audio” (Assistant) and “listening to the audio” (Receiver) is what allows for an unlimited number of people to join a single stream simultaneously without any drop in sound quality or speed. It is, quite literally, your own personal radio station for the modern age.

How You Connect: 3 Ways Auracast Changes the Audience Experience

As a distributor, we provide the infrastructure that allows venues to offer these three seamless connection options:

1. Using Your Own Gear (BYOD)

Imagine walking into a sports bar or a gym. Instead of reading subtitles on a muted TV, you simply open the Bluetooth settings on your smartphone. Just like selecting a Wi-Fi network, you’ll see “TV – Court 1.” Tap it, and the audio streams directly to your Bluetooth 5.3+ earbuds. No extra equipment needed.

2. For Hearing Aid Users

For the millions of people using Auracast-ready hearing aids or cochlear implants, the experience is life-changing. There is no need to fumble with a phone. Users can simply press a button on their hearing aid to “cycle” through available streams landing on the lecturer’s voice or the movie’s soundtrack with zero background noise and zero delay.

3. The “Scan & Go” (QR Codes)

Venues can now make accessibility instant. By placing QR codes on the backs of auditorium seats or at information desks, guests can simply scan the code with their camera. Their device instantly joins the correct audio stream, bypassing the need to search through lists.

Why Choose Ampetronic via Avientek?

Transitioning to new technology can be daunting. As authorized distributors, we don’t just sell boxes; we provide the expertise to bridge the gap between today’s standards and tomorrow’s innovations.

  • Ultra-Low Latency: Ampetronic systems offer latency as low as 30ms meaning the sound reaches your ears at the exact same time the speaker’s lips move.
  • The Power of Co-existence: We understand that not everyone has the latest smartphone yet. That’s why we help venues integrate Auracast alongside traditional Induction Loops, ensuring 100% accessibility for every visitor, regardless of their device.
  • Expert Design: We provide the technical layout and support to ensure your Auracast broadcast covers your entire venue without “dead spots.”

The world is getting louder, but your message shouldn’t get lost in the noise. Whether you manage a house of worship, a corporate boardroom, or a transit hub, Auracast is the key to an inclusive, high-quality audio experience.
