Jabra PanaCast 50 video bar system
Hear clearly, wherever you are.
Sonia utilises CatX cabling in place of conventional speaker wiring, enabling a cleaner and more efficient installation without the complexity of copper terminations or rack-mounted amplifiers. Designed for simplicity in modern audio deployments, the Sonia Amp attaches directly to the Sonia C5 loudspeaker, allowing for a concealed in-ceiling configuration that eliminates the need for visible infrastructure. The Sonia C5 also features adjustable mounting brackets designed for secure installation from below the ceiling, streamlining integration in finished environments. In larger environments such as classrooms and conference spaces, wall-mounted speakers or soundbars often fail to provide uniform coverage, resulting in uneven sound levels. The Sonia Series enables distributed speaker placement throughout the room, allowing each unit to serve a smaller area. This approach reduces overall volume requirements, enhances speech clarity, and avoids the reverberation common in underpowered setups. Sonia ensures consistent, intelligible audio for every listener, regardless of their position within the space.
Ensure Everyone is Heard
The Challenge
In larger collaboration environments like meeting rooms and classrooms, relying on soundbars or speakers positioned near the display often leads to uneven audio coverage. Participants seated close to the front may experience overly loud sound, while those at the back struggle to hear clearly.
The Solution
Distributed speaker systems—such as the Sonia Series—offer a more balanced approach by positioning multiple speakers throughout the room. Each unit covers a smaller area, allowing for lower overall volume, reducing echo and boominess, and creating a more comfortable listening experience. This ensures consistent, intelligible audio for every participant, no matter where they are seated.
Sonia is a networked loudspeaker platform that provides scalable, in-ceiling audio distribution using standard Category cable infrastructure. Developed by Xilica, Sonia addresses the growing demand for high-performance, installation-friendly loudspeaker solutions in corporate, educational, and public-sector environments. Unlike traditional speaker systems that rely on bulky copper cabling and separate amplifier racks, Sonia integrates PoE-powered amplification and digital audio over CatX cable to simplify deployment while maintaining audio quality and system reliability.
At the heart of the Sonia platform is the Sonia C5, a high-performance in-ceiling speaker designed for uniform sound coverage. It is complemented by the Sonia Amp, a PoE amplifier module that mounts directly onto the Sonia C5 for concealed, ceiling-based installation. This approach eliminates the need for rack-mounted amplifiers, simplifies cable routing, and allows for efficient speaker distribution across larger rooms. Applications include conference rooms, classrooms, training facilities, and multipurpose spaces where consistent audio coverage is essential.
By distributing Sonia speakers throughout a room, integrators can deliver clearer sound at more comfortable listening levels without overloading the front of the space or creating acoustic dead zones. Sonia is fully compatible with Xilica’s Solaro DSPs and the RoomHub platform, allowing for integration into complete AV-over-IP ecosystems. With its streamlined installation, network-based design, and reliable performance, Sonia plays a vital role in enhancing audio intelligibility and user experience in professional collaboration environments.
